ABOUT
Who Was Alfred Wainwright
Alfred Wainwright (1907–1991) was the legendary fellwalker, illustrator, and author whose hand‑drawn guidebooks mapped the Lake District with unmatched devotion. His seven‑volume Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells became the bible for walkers — not just for the routes, but for the love, humour, and humanity woven into every page.
He didn’t just record the fells. He honoured them. And today, thousands follow in his footsteps, setting out to “bag” all 214 Wainwrights — one summit at a time — collecting memories, stories, and a sense of achievement.
This is where “you have to bag them to tag them” begins.

Our products are designed to honour those stories.

-
Summit Tags engraved with the heights and names of the peaks you’ve conquered
-
Region Tags that celebrate the chapters of your journey

Our Story
Wainwrights Bag & Tag was born from a shared love of the fells and the quiet satisfaction of reaching a summit. Like many walkers, we found ourselves wanting a way to mark the journey — something more meaningful than a tick on an app or a scribble in a notebook. We wanted a physical reminder of the miles, the memories, and the moments that make fellwalking what it is. So we created something built for the people who feel the same way: a simple, durable way to carry your progress with you, one summit at a time.
The Meaning Behind "Bag them to Tag Them"
It’s simple: You climb the fell — you earn the tag.
Your keyring becomes a living record of your Wainwright journey, building over time as you move from the first summit to the 214th. It’s a tradition rooted in achievement, adventure, and the quiet pride of knowing you’ve stood on those peaks.
This isn’t just a product. It’s your story in metal.
Crafted For the Fells
Every piece is designed with durability, simplicity, and authenticity in mind:
-
Solid metal tags with crisp engraving
-
A clean, understated aesthetic
-
A tactile feel that improves with age
-
Built to withstand years of walking, weather, and adventure
Just like the fells themselves.
Why I Built This
I started walking the Wainwrights and realised I wanted something real to mark each summit — something I could hold, something that meant something. Nothing out there felt personal or built for the journey itself, so I made the thing I wished existed. A small, honest reminder of where my boots had taken me. This brand began as my own way of celebrating the fells I love, and it’s become something I’m proud to share with anyone on the same path.
